Terms of Service

Effective date: October 5, 2026

These terms govern your use of zora, an email client for macOS (“zora”, “the app”), and of this website. zora is developed by Piotr Wittchen (“we”, “us”). By downloading, installing or using zora, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

In short: try zora free for 14 days, then buy a lifetime license to keep using it. zora runs on your Mac and connects directly to your own mail provider; we never receive your mail. You are responsible for your accounts and for how you use them. How zora handles your data, including data received from Google, is described in the Privacy Policy.

1. The app

zora is a desktop email client that runs on your Mac. It connects to Gmail and to other email providers over IMAP and SMTP so you can read, write, send and organize your own email. zora does not provide an email account or mailbox of its own. Your email service is provided by your email provider (for example, Google) under that provider's own terms.

2. Who can use zora

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to agree to these terms, to use zora. If you use zora on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for it.

3. License

Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use zora on Macs you own or control. During the trial the license is free. After you buy a license, it's yours to use for as long as you like, with no subscription.

You may not:

zora, its name, logo, design and code belong to us and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms don't give you any rights to them except the license above.

4. Trial, purchases and updates

5. Google accounts and Gmail

When you add a Gmail account, you sign in with Google in your web browser and grant zora permission to access your Gmail. By doing so:

zora is an independent app. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by Google. Gmail and Google are trademarks of Google LLC.

6. Your accounts and acceptable use

You are responsible for the email accounts you add to zora, for keeping your Mac and its credentials secure, and for all mail you send with zora. You agree not to use zora to:

Your email provider may limit or suspend your account under its own terms. We aren't responsible for actions your provider takes.

7. Your content

Your email and everything in it stays yours. We claim no rights to it, and we don't receive it: zora stores your mail on your Mac and sends it only to your own email provider and, if you turn them on, to the services in section 8. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

8. Optional AI features and third-party services

AI features and the MCP server are off by default. If you turn on AI features and add your own OpenAI, Anthropic or xAI (Grok) API key, zora sends the content you ask it to work with directly from your Mac to the provider you chose, under your own account and that provider's terms, policies and fees. If you turn on the MCP server, apps you connect to it, such as Claude Code, can read and organize your mail under their own terms.

AI-generated summaries, replies and text may be inaccurate or incomplete. Review them before you rely on them or send them. We aren't responsible for third-party services, their availability or how they handle the content you send them.

9. Disclaimer

zora is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent allowed by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that zora will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will keep working with every email provider, as providers can change their services at any time. Keep your own backups of important mail. Your provider keeps the original copy, and removing an account from zora doesn't delete mail from it.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of zora. Our total liability for any claim relating to zora is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.

11. Termination

You can stop using zora at any time by removing your accounts and deleting the app. If you seriously break these terms, for example by sharing your license key publicly, we may deactivate your license. Sections 3 (ownership), 9, 10 and 13 continue to apply after termination.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when zora gains new features. We'll update this page and its effective date before changes take effect, and announce significant changes in the app's release notes. If you keep using zora after a change, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, stop using the app.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Poland, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

14. Contact

If you have any questions about these terms, contact Piotr Wittchen at [email protected].
