Keyboard-first, still bought once.

MailMate used to be the Mac mail app you bought once. Since late 2024 it's a subscription.
zora is a keyboard-first email client that's still a one-time license.

Your hands stay on the keyboard.

Command palette

Press ⌘K and type what you want: move, label, switch account or change theme.

Single keys

J K to move, E to archive, R to reply. The mouse is always optional.

Search that narrows

⌘F to search, then filter by sender, dates, excluded words or attachment size.

Gmail, the Gmail way.

MailMate sees Gmail as IMAP mailboxes. zora signs in with Google and keeps labels as labels.

Labels, not mailboxes

Your labels, nested ones included, in the sidebar and on every thread, without duplicate copies.

IMAP too

iCloud, Fastmail, Yahoo or your own domain, with server settings filled in.

Fast and offline

Mail is cached on your Mac. It opens instantly and stays readable without a connection.

Fair to say.

MailMate is one of the most powerful mail apps on the Mac. zora isn't trying to be.

No rules or smart mailboxes

zora has search filters, but no saved searches or server-side style rules.

No Markdown composing

The composer is rich text, with attachments and recipient suggestions.

Fewer knobs

No custom key bindings or hidden preferences. zora does less, on purpose.

Pay once. Keep it.

No quarterly payment, and no free mode tag on your outgoing mail.

No subscription. A lifetime license. Try every feature free for 14 days first, no account needed.

No server in between. zora talks straight to your mail provider. Nobody else receives your mail, including me.

Actively developed. Release notes for every version are in the changelog.
